Zeroing and Muzzle Velocity
Zero range and muzzle velocity are two of the most important inputs in any ballistic profile. If either one is off, every hold farther downrange will drift with it.
Zero range
Section titled “Zero range”Your zero range is the distance where your point of aim and point of impact match for that rifle and load.
- Open the profile you want to use.
- Set Zero Range to the distance you actually used when zeroing the rifle.
- Save the profile.
- Recheck the number after major profile edits.
Muzzle velocity
Section titled “Muzzle velocity”Muzzle velocity is the bullet speed as it leaves the barrel. It is one of the main drivers behind drop and time of flight.
- Open the same profile.
- Enter your best known Muzzle Velocity.
- Save the profile.
- Revisit it if your measured data changes.
Best practices
Section titled “Best practices”- Use real range data whenever you can.
- Keep the profile matched to the rifle and load you are actually shooting.
- Refine the profile over time with Truing if your real impacts show a consistent difference.
